Smart products for better processes and service in woodworking industry

Abstract:

Process efficiency and technical availability are the key challenges in highly automized productions nowadays. IoT allows to connect machinery, tools and control systems and to create new functions and benefits. The lecture introduces smart products and shows practical applications in the context of woodworking industry.

First example demonstrates digitalization and vertical integration along the process chain with a piece of timber as virtual data carrier. Second example shows robotics for automatic commissioning in the prefab industry of timber houses and thirdly smart services and data monitoring are illustrated.
